Council adopts assistance measure in support of the Jordanian Armed Forces
The Council today adopted an assistance measure under the European Peace Facility worth €7 million to the benefit of the Jordanian Armed Forces.
With today’s decision, the EU shows that Jordan can continue to count on the friendship and assistance of the European Institutions and the European Member States. We are a strong and sincere partner to Jordan.
Josep Borrell, High Representative of the European Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy
The assistance measure will enhance the capabilities of the Jordanian Armed Forces to ensure the national security and stability of Jordan through the enhancement of its military medical services, engineer brigades and operational units in charge of securing its borders, and thereby better protect civilians in crises and emergencies.
To achieve this objective, the proposed assistance measure will enhance the capacities of the military medical services to evacuate and treat injured soldiers on the ground, the engineer brigades to better support deployed units in the field and operational units in charge of securing Jordan’s borders.
The assistance was requested by the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan in November 2022.
